bring your laptop (you submit exam to TURNITIN), and make sure it is fully charged

bring a reading book, in case time remains after you have submitted the test to TURNITIN and returned your exam packet

DO NOT BRING your Macbeth text, since the exam packet includes a list of approved passages from the play

the exam packet also includes: the full text of the short story, “The Tunnel” and instructions for the “11-sentence” paragraph model

Before starting the test, be sure to sign and date the “Exam Preamble” attached to your test

Lastly, remember you will write the exam on the prescribed template (with pledge-header and acknowledgment-footer)

If you have a zero for a weekly membean learning session, one which has not already been dropped automatically by the grade book, you may replace that remaining zero with at least 45 minutes over at least three days during this week, by the end of Sunday, December 14.

If you choose to do this, email me after completing the minutes.  Thank you.

learning goal: understand the exam’s two parts, in terms of content and response-format

respond to “Exam Preamble”:  1-3-sentence response.  For example, does the main idea make sense?  Do the individual sentences read clearly?  Do you agree, disagree have questions or comments? What is your reaction to this paragraph?

read exam short story, “The Tunnel.”  Afterwards, in small groups, create a possible exam question, based on the list of learning goals from our short story unit–a question suitable to a well-developed paragraph response.

if time allows, swap questions with another group and begin outlining your group’s response

preview the list of approved Macbeth quotes

____________

HW: bring to Friday’s class any additions you propose.  In Friday’s class, we will approve any changes to the list distributed in today’s block class.

Given the delayed feedback on one of your TURNITIN submissions (the Macbeth  tension paragraph), I will only factor that writing’s score into your semester average if the score maintains or increases your average as of today. It seems fair for you not to worry about a sudden drop in the course average.
