First Half: TURNITIN assignment of 200-400 words.  Before submitting your writing, please make sure to double-space.  Assignment title: Fiction & News

Assessment criteria:  is the writing clear, specific and developed?

Question: James Baldwin’s short story, “Exodus,” shows us something about ourselves as human beings.  The PBS news story about the Muslim Rohingya minority in Myanmar also shows us something about who we are as humans.  What is one main difference in HOW these two stories show us about ourselves as humans?  Explain your answer with examples from both stories, and remember that this question asks HOW the stories show us something; it does not ask WHAT different human qualities the two stories reveal.

Second Half:  Begin reading our third story for this week, “Mr. Green,”  the link to which appears on this blog’s page called “World Fiction.”
